Bird ringing on Saturday, 28th February 2015

SongBirdSiOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAgnBird was with out with the Belfast and Down Ringing Group on Saturday, for a briefish foray before rain drove us off. Still, we managed to ring around 40 birds, including two yellowhammers, on Jack Kelly‘s conservation award-winning farm. Other species ringed included: tree sparrow; house sparrow; robin; dunnock; blue tit (pictured); great tit; coal tit; chaffinch.

I had done some of the field work for my PhD on Jack’s farm, so it was great to meet up with him again. Looking forward to a return visit when the weather conditions are more favourable!
